History

In 1935 J.P. Baglietto opened California Seed and Hardware. After school and on holidays his son Raymond worked in the store. After graduating high school Ray entered the military. Upon his completion of his service to our country in 1945 Ray returned to work side by side with his father. Some years later California Seeds and Hardware closed its doors forever. J.P. retired and young Ray went to work for Silva Sacket Seed Co. It was here that Ray learned the field seeds side of the business. He became manager of the business when it was bought out by A.L. Castle. He remained in this position for nearly five years until he made the decision to strike out on his own. In 1958 in a warehouse on Weber and Lafayette streets, Baglietto Seeds was born.

As Baglietto Seeds continued to grow Ray’s younger brother Bob joined the business. The years went by and the brothers raised families and the business continued to grow. Their sons worked in the warehouse beginning at a young age. They learned the business from the inside out. Ray, being a strong believer in hard work, made sure that his son Joe and his nephews Bob Jr. and Brent started at the bottom and had to work their way up. In 1990 Ray Baglietto retired, selling Baglietto Seeds to his brother Bob Sr. and his two sons Bob Jr. and Brent, and his son Joe. Today the company is owned and operated by the three partners, Joe Baglietto, Brent Baglietto and Bob Baglietto Jr. Ray began the seeds tradition of quality products and exemplary customer service, this tradition is still alive and well at Baglietto Seeds today.
