Recommendations for Fall 2011

Blue Bale Superior Forages are a result of cutting edge seed technology and are comprised of the newest available components. These products have the highest yield potential, are disease resistant, and are among the best varieties available.

UC 113 Oats is a fantastic performer with excellent straw strength. It is late maturing (15-20 days after Montezuma), and is well adapted for fall planting in the Central Valley, Imperial Valley, and Central Coastal areas for both grain and forage production.

UC 128 Oats have excellent shatter resistance. On average, we have seen a 27% increase in grain yield over Montezuma Oats. It also has higher crude protein percentages, as well as a similar acid detergent fiber and higher neutral detergent fiber when compared to Montezuma.

UC 148 Oats have good straw strength. Lodging occurs in thick stands and in highly productive environments, but much less so than Montezuma. It's grain yield is averaging 114% of Montezuma, and has an impressive test weight of about 38 lbs/bu.
